| RE-Evaluate is a partnership formed between the University of Limerick Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering (UL EC), Clondalkin Community Recycling Initiative (CCRI) and REHAB Enterprises Ltd. The Partners have agreed a Memorandum of Understanding, and together constitute the Project Team, responsible for implementation of the ProjectUL ECE can offer state-of-the art research and testing facilities at their workshop at the campus. A full time PhD student has been appointed to carry out the research and will have access to professional support from the Department staff, as well as access to the testing and analysing equipment and programmes available to the Department. The UL ECE also has a well-equipped library, with many essential reports and documents that will support the research.REHAB Ireland is an experienced social enterprise that employs both skilled professionals and persons with learning disabilities. REHAB has developed a department dedicated to the recovery and refurbishment of electrical and electronic goods, including personal computers and mobile phones. REHAB has a fully equipped testing and repair workshop available to it, and 25 skilled staff, trained and experienced in the refurbishing of electrical and electronic appliances. The purchase of additional testing and repair equipment is required by the enterprises in order to better implement the tasks assigned to them in this Project.CCRI is a social economy enterprise set up to reuse white and other electrical goods. It has been in operation for around 4 years and during that time has recovered and reused thousands of white goods, making the available at low cost to local households. The enterprise has transport for collection of equipment, a workshop and storage facilities available, and a staff of 10 skilled operatives that are trained and experienced in the refurbishing of electrical appliances. | ||

| Strategic and supervision of the Project is the responsibility of a Steering Group formed for this purpose. The Steering Group meets every six month and is made up of the Partners and plus a number of representatives of other organisations. In addition to the Partners, Steering Group members are currently:- The Environmental Protection Agency – EPA has responsibilities for a wide range of licensing, enforcement, and monitoring and assessment activities associated with environmental protection.- The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government – DEHLG is the Government Department charged with pursuing sustainable development, by achieving a high quality environment with effective environmental protection. This includes responsibility for waste and resources management, including E-waste, by ensuring implementation of the Waste Management Strategy.- The Solving the E-Waste Problem Network – StEP is a transnational network formed under the auspices of the United Nations to promote solutions to the problems created by E-waste, through joint development of polices and models.The Steering Group is co-ordinated by Sandra Kavanagh of the EPA. | ||
